The
Geoffrey McComas
Theatre
The Geoffrey McComas Theatre is a beautifully appointed 434 seat auditorium with proscenium, thrust stage, fly tower and orchestra pit, lying at the heart of the James Forbes Academy at Scotch Collage, Hawthorn.
In 2000, Campbell McComas AM approached Richard Pratt, one of Australia’s most generous billionaire philanthropists and passionate arts lover, to donate $1 million to help build the Geoffrey McComas Theatre. Whilst Richard nor Geoffrey attended Scotch College, Campbell was a proud old boy who shared his father’s love for theatre and dreamed of having a world-class theatre available not only to Scotch College students but also to the wider community.
In recognition of his immeasurable contribution to the arts in Australia, the Theatre was named to honour Richard’s communications advisor and friend and Campbell’s father.
The Geoffrey McComas Theatre opened on the 16th February, 2005 and is the home of OSMaD’s captivating and award winning productions.
